Over-the-counter (OTC) trading of securities in Taiwan was launched in February 1988 under the management of the Taipei Securities Dealers Association (the predecessor of today’s Taiwan Securities Association). In 1st January 2014,Taipei Exchange (TPEx, formerly known as GreTai Securities Market) was officially established in accordance with the “Securities and Exchange Act” and “Regulations Governing Securities Trading on the GreTai Securities Market” promulgated by Securities and Futures Commission, Ministry of Finance. TPEx with the mission of promoting economic development, endeavors to support government economic policies, foster Taiwan’s local characteristic enterprises, expand both domestic and foreign new business services, and boost market turnover aiming to build up a multi-functional, multi-level full-fledged exchange in which accommodate centralized market and OTC market functions.15th.
