On 13th year of Guangxu Emperor of Qing Dynasty (In 1887), Taiwan Governor Liu Ming-Chuan was granted permission to raise funds via issuing railroad stocks to for building railroads. This is the first known stock in Taiwan. Since then, the issuing of stock has become an important mark for the establishment of an enterprise. The first physical railroad stock has lost in the mists of antiquity, so ‘the Statement for Taiwan Railroad construction to Hsinchu’ made by the second Taiwan Governor, Shao You-Lian, becomes an evidence.
